In most cases, you can keep your existing business number and forward calls to your Receptionistas number. This means customers continue calling the number they already know, while Ava answers the calls you choose to send to her.
-
ItReceptionistas can usually work with most UK landline, mobile and VoIP providers, provided your network allows call forwarding.
The exact setup process varies between providers. Some let you activate forwarding using a short code, while others require you to change the setting through an online account, app or customer-service team.em description
-
ItemNo. In most cases, you can keep your existing number and forward calls to Receptionistas.
You may also choose to use a new Receptionistas number directly, particularly if you are launching a new business or want a dedicated number for a particular service. description
-
Yes, depending on the call-forwarding options supported by your provider.
You may be able to forward calls:
• immediately
• when your line is busy
• when you do not answer
• when your phone is unavailable or out of signal
The options available will depend on your phone network and tariff. description
-
This is normally controlled by your existing phone provider rather than Receptionistas.
Some networks allow you to choose how many seconds your phone rings before the call is forwarded. Others use a fixed delay. We can help you identify the appropriate setting for your provider.
-
Yes. You can configure your phone so that you have the first opportunity to answer, with unanswered calls then forwarded to Ava.
You can also choose to send all calls directly to Receptionistas for example when you are busy, closed, on holiday or outside normal working hours.
-
Call forwarding redirects an incoming call from your existing business number to another number.
For example, a customer calls your usual number. If you do not answer, your network forwards that call to Receptionistas, where our receptionist answers it on your behalf.
-
Normally, the transfer happens automatically and the caller simply hears our receptionist answer the call.
Mia or Ava will introduce themselves in the way agreed for your business, so the experience feels like part of your existing telephone service.
-
Your phone provider may charge you for the forwarded part of the call.
This is separate from your Receptionistas subscription and depends on your network, contract and call allowance. Some providers include forwarded calls within your allowance, while others charge them as an outgoing call from your number to the Receptionistas number.
We recommend checking call-forwarding charges with your provider before activating the service.
-
Receptionistas may send call summaries, appointment confirmations or alerts by email or text message, depending on your plan and chosen setup.
Email notifications are generally included where stated in your plan. SMS messages may carry an additional charge, particularly where messages are sent in larger volumes or to international numbers. Any applicable Receptionistas charges will be explained before the feature is activated.
-
Porting means moving an existing telephone number from one provider to another.
Instead of forwarding calls from your current provider, the number itself is transferred to the new telephone service. Customers continue using the same number, but the number is then managed through the new provider.
-
No. Most customers can begin by forwarding their existing number to Receptionistas.
Porting may be considered later if you want Receptionistas or its telephone partner to manage the number directly, but it is not normally required to get started.
-
Number porting must be planned carefully because there can occasionally be a brief interruption while the transfer takes place.
You should not cancel your existing phone service before the port has completed. We will explain the process and any likely risks before a number transfer is requested.
-
Yes. Call forwarding is normally controlled through your existing phone provider, so you can switch it off or change the forwarding rules when required.
For example, you might forward calls to Receptionistas outside business hours, during holidays or whenever your team is unavailable.
-
We will help you review the available alternatives.
These might include forwarding all calls, using a dedicated Receptionistas number, changing the timing of your voicemail settings or speaking to your provider about additional call-management features.
-
We can guide you through the process and provide the number your calls should be forwarded to.
Because the forwarding setting sits within your own telephone account, you may need to activate it yourself or authorise your network provider to make the change.
-
It is helpful to know:
• your current phone provider
• whether the number is a landline, mobile or VoIP number
• whether you want all calls or only unanswered calls forwarded
• your preferred ringing time
• your opening hours
• when you want Receptionistas to answer
• whether voicemail is currently active
• whether your provider charges for forwarded calls
-
es. We recommend testing the service before relying on it fully.
You can call your Receptionistas number directly, check Ava’s responses and complete a test booking or message. Once you are satisfied, you can activate forwarding from your usual business number.

If you find that you have used more than the included minutes in your tariff, extra minutes used are charged at the very competitive rate of 20p per minute.
